Concept:
The Illusionary Ascent
We all feel we must be going somewhere. That there's a higher order. That
there's an afterlife that is heavenly. We choose to believe in purpose and
direction, a reason for our existence. It gives meaning and hopefully
comfort to our lives. We yearn for eternal life after death. But it could
really be just a painful joke of perspective and perception. The reality
may be a cold, humorless different story. My monument plays with the
concept of the ascent. In fact it goes nowhere.
This will be a three dimensional relief with the perspective continuing to
infinity. But it will not be an actual staircase. Because idiots would try
to walk up it, fall off it and die.
